Elkton Volleyball
Melissa Erickson
began her volleyball career at Scotland High School. She played junior
high volleyball for two years followed by four years of high school
volleyball where she was all conference for three seasons. She played
in two state tournaments, one in which she was named to the All State
Tournament Team. After graduation, she continued her volleyball career
at Dakota State University for four years, three of which she was a
starter. Melissa also ran track for a year at DSU. Melissa has a
degree in Communication Disorders from the University of South Dakota as
well as a degree in Biology Education from Dakota State University. She
started her volleyball coaching career in Menno, South Dakota. In her
three years at Menno, she compiled a 59-21 record, a regular season
conference championship, a conference tournament championship, and a
district championship. She has volunteered as an assistant coach in
Viborg and Elkton. She coached junior high volleyball the last two
years.
Melissa will begin her third year of coaching the Lady Elks. She has guided the Lady Elks to a District Championship. She has compiled a 45-17 record in her last two years. Melissa is a math and science teacher in Elkton. She is married to Steve Erickson and has three children: Aiden (6), Tevan (4), and Eliot (3). |
